Playoff Week

PFN #2 vs FR #3. Monday@6:30pm, Room: Bad Times

PFN rocked their way into the playoffs with exceptional play from Stevie, Mina, and Brian. These three guys need to continue their great play if they expect to beat a high powered team like FR. Yes, I said high powered, FR might be at .500 but the players they have can squeak out a win. Looking back at the regular season FR lost both match ups against PFN 4-2. I suspect things will change here though. It is almost impossible to win 3 games in a row against one team in the same season.

FR needs Travis, Petey, and Matt to play their best if they plan on finally beating FR this season. What a time to pull off a big win here, if Petey can get all his players to show he just might have a decent shot at beating PFN. I think PFN has the upper hand though and sadly the outcome will not end in FR's favor.
Outcome: 4-2 PFN

MC #2 vs BNR #3, Monday@7pm, Room: Rack 'em

MC hasn't played very well the last couple weeks. They have 6 players eligible to play this week but the odds are they will show with 5. I think their short team will cause them to lose out this week. Ant has gone 0-2 the last 2 weeks along with MC. MC lives and dies at the hands of Ant and if he doesn't get back on form season 3 will have been a waste.

BNR has played well this season. BNR split match ups with MC and SS making this a very tough match to predict. Both MC and BNR are coming into the playoffs with a losing streak, will that effect their play? I surely don't think it will hurt BNR. They have plenty of players eligible for this match and I think their full team will give them the little nudge they need to win and take their team back to the Eastern Championship.
Outcome: 4-2 BNR

The Last Hurrah

BNR (6-3) vs SS (7-2), Monday@6pm, Room: Welcome to the Jungle

This is crunch time. Dina and SS are in it to win it but this has first round playoff implications. If BNR can beat SS they have the head to head and it would propel them into home field round 1. They also could possibly pull off a first round bye for the 3rd season in a row. BNR cant help but get the job done in WSOP and with a team like that who would expect anything less?

SS just stole the lead in the East at just the right time. Their team needs this win and they lock up a round 1 bye and home field in the Eastern Championship. I suspect they will show with an epic team here and things will run real close here.
Outcome: 4-3 BNR

PFN (6-3) vs SP (0-9), Tuesday@6pm, Room: Bad Times

PFN has wrapped up home field for the first round of the Western playoffs. This match is pretty irrelevant at this point. PFN can play subs and possibly get a player or two eligible for the playoffs to insure they will not run short when it counts. This match is going to be fairly one-sided, SP hasn't won a game in what will be 2 seasons after the match tonight.

SP shouldn't be too down there is always next season. This match might even be their lucky break if PFN chooses to play subs. Bev my wise roommate once said, "the sun shines on every dogs butt once in awhile." This could be your shiny day!
Outcome:4-2 PFN

SPS (3-6) vs PDZ (1-8), Wednesday@7pm, Room: Sweet Jane

Both of these teams are playing a meaningless game here, they are out of playoff contention and have nothing but pride to fight for. DJ is back from the box so he should surely add some flavor to this match up. I suspect this to be a fairly close game and after PDZ hammered MC last week I wouldn't assume SPS has the advantage here. This will come down to sheer luck.
Outcome: 4-3 SPS

Running Out of Time

SP (0-8) vs DS (3-5), Monday@6pm, Room: Advanced Lng 3

SP haven't played well in WSOP yet. SP is currently on a record breaking -18 game losing streak over 2 seasons of WSOP. This streak is bound to end one of these days, could it be today? I doubt it DS has a solid team which in the last 4 games is 3-1. I suspect the loss of James will not cramp DS' playing style. DS is just too much for SP they proved it earlier in the season and will prove it again this week.
Outcome: 4-2 DS

PDZ (0-8) vs MC (7-1), Wednesday@7pm, Room: Sad

PDZ has done just about as much as SP this season and this match should be utterly meaningless. I can continue on spewing a bunch of bologna but we all know that the best team in WSOP will have no issues dispatching PDZ. The only problem for MC is if they run short again this week. I don't think MC has taken the last couple weeks seriously after their blazing start. They are going to need a pick-me-up soon for their playoff run.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

Wk 8: T-Minus 3 Games

Crunch time is here, last week spelled the end of the last undefeated team. MC finally picked up their first loss in a tough match against SS. They only brought 5 players which finally took its toll. SS is now in position to steal the top spot if MC cant finish the season out with W's. The East is finally starting to heat up while the West has been trading spots all season. 3 teams are in position to make a run at 1st in the West and I am very curious how who steals the top spot, my money is on PFN. This upcoming week has one key match up that has significant playoff implications in the West so keep an eye out for the EPC/FR match.

-ONE SIDED-

SP (0-7) vs SS (5-2), Monday@6pm, Room: ADV Lounge 3

I believe the headline says it all, this match is going to be pretty one sided. SP hasn't won a game and though I thought they could pull off a win last week I was wrong. I cant put any faith in SP after their loss last week. This team just doesn't want to win. Bev just needs this season to end so SP can start from scratch for season 4.

SS destroyed MC last week with big names showing to mop them up look to see something similar this week minus the big names for SS. SS doesn't need the likes of Lewisss when they are playing a 0-7 team. This should be a fairly simple 5-1 match for SS and you can take that to the bank.
Outcome: 5-1 SS

-ONE SIDED V 2.0-

BNR (4-3) vs PDZ (0-7), Monday@7pm, Room: Welcome to the Jungle

This is exactly like the match above hence the V 2.0. This match features another 0-7 team in PDZ who saw their captain get boxed for this up coming week. This match should be simple for BNR who is looking to make the season sweep of PDZ with this win. BNR needs this easy win to get some distance between SPS who still has an outside shot at the playoffs.

PDZ will probably not show with a full lineup this week because DJ is boxed, I am curious to see who will show but regardless I do not think this 0-7 team has a glimmer of hope against BNR.
Outcome: 5-1 BNR

-WESTERN SHAKE-UP-

DS (3-4) vs PFN (5-2), Wednesday@6pm, Room: A Face in the Crowd

Wild, DS is still in this ladies and gents after a 0-4 start. They are blowing through their match-ups with ease as of late. Look to see this match stay fairly tight if DS can continue playing like they have during their +3 win streak. I suspect DS could even pull this match out they just need a strong showing from Corey and company.

PFN has been doing what you would expect from a solid upstanding team. They pull out the ease wins and battle hard through the really tough matches. This is a team that on any given day could beat anyone in WSOP. Kerry don't look past DS here, they might have lost to you earlier this season but I think this match will be a lot harder for you.
Outcome: 4-2 PFN

-TIME IS RUNNING OUT-

EPC (5-2) vs FR (4-3), Wednesday@7pm, Room: Banditos

EPC has been doing a great job this season. Look to see things continue as long as Jack keeps up his efforts. He has done well turning around EPC's no show tendencies and soon enough people will forget all about EPC's dark past as long as their future keeps looking brighter. Jack needs to win this game if he wants to separate himself from the pack again. I think he has it in him, Jester is also back so that is another positive for EPC. I think you have a very good shot at beating FR this time around Jack, you just need to be careful Petey is a slippery one.

FR's record pretty much sums up how they have played this season, just a tad above par. This team is still a game ahead of DS and has a firm grasp on their current playoff spot but this isn't the time for Petey to get lackadaisical. FR needs to come to this match with Travis, Petey, and most annoyingly Matt. FR needs those big 3 to battle with Jester, Cam, and Uriel. IF both teams have their strongest this match will go to game 7 easily.
Outcome: 4-3 FR

MC (6-1) vs SPS (3-4), Thursday@7pm, Room: Rack em

MC was crushed last week being short staffed finally took its toll on MC. They need to come back strong this week or face another defeat and a chance at losing first place. Zach, Ben, James, Ant, and Saf need to show and hopefully they scrounge up a 6th. This should be a close match if SPS plays carefully.

SPS needs this game to get closer to BNR who has positioned themselves for a playoff run. The time has come they need to step up or shut up SPS doesn't have any more time to waste. 3 games left sitting 2 games out, I am sure you can do the math here. Things aren't looking good especially playing the team with the best record week 8.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Wk 7: Time is Ticking

Well, after a wild week 6 its time to reflect... EPC was shocked by DS this week, maybe DS hasn't given up on this season if they can keep this up they might catch one of those 4-2's. MC handled BNR furthering their undefeated record. PFN and SS won snoozers 4-2 and 5-1 respectively. SP almost broke their bad luck stretching FR to game 7 before losing their 16th straight match. Ok, that's enough about last week now it's time to look ahead to the future!

-BATTLE OF THE 3-3's-

SPS (3-3) vs BNR (3-3), Tuesday@7pm, Room: Sweet Jane

Heather and SPS are doing just enough to keep themselves in the hunt. They still need to pickup this key win. This week is their chance to step ahead of them in the standings and I think Heather will come out packing a punch for this fight. The only problem Heather has is depth. Des was boxed this week and that will put a cramp in her plans. I believe she will use home field to the best of her abilities but I wonder if that will be enough. I think BNR is far to strong for SPS especially after coming off a huge defeat of MC in pro.

Dina might have Jordy call more often, BNR shut down MC as stated above and I believe that momentum will carry over to this match. I think if Dina can get her players to show to this match like she did in her last this shouldn't be any trouble for BNR. Joe, Jordy, and Croz can get you 3 wins easily. I will put my money on BNR this week but keep an eye out for Heather and her man, they are 2-0 when both show and win their matches. If they win their games this week BNR could be in for some trouble.
Outcome: 4-2 BNR

-SMOOTH SAILING-

EPC
(4-2) vs SP (0-6), Wednesday@6pm, Room: Banditos

EPC is coming off a shocking loss to DS. They could have put a knife in DS' playoff hopes last week but failed. Jack is hungry though, hungrier than he was last week. Will the boxing of jester effect the outcome of this week? Can Jack field a full team? I think EPC is in a prime position to succeed this week but they are also in position to fail as well. I am going out on a limb this week and its time to toss SP some love!

Beverly I hope that your pro team shows for WSOP! SP seems to have the worst luck in WSOP. I think Beverly and Pete work out their troubles for the first time in 16 matches. Look to see SP show with a solid team that will refuse to be pushed around by the likes of Jack.
Outcome: 4-2 SP

-THE LITTLE ENGINE THAT COULD-

DS (2-4) vs PDZ (0-6), Wednesday@7pm, Room: A Face in the Crowd

DS is blazing on all four cylinders the last 2 weeks. I suspect they will continue their rebound from a horrible 0-4 start. DS isn't out of the weeds yet but things are definitely looking up. I think that solid play by Corey and Roy could easily carry DS over the 0-6 PDZ team. This match should be fairly close I think DS is poised to make a playoff run and this match will likely be a stepping stone for the little engine that could.

PDZ has decided to not show up week in and week out. Ok, I am not talking literally to PDZ's credit they show with at least 5 on a regular basis they just cant get the job done. Their talent level is limited and has yet to increase. I suspect things are looking pretty bleak for PDZ now that they are all but eliminated from the playoffs.
Outcome: 4-2 DS

-SLUG FEST-

FR (4-2) vs PFN (4-2), Wednesday@7pm, Room: Beetle Spot

FR fell short in their last meeting with PFN week 4. Petey must be foaming at the mouth for another match up with PFN. These teams have a long history, none of which are pretty. I suspect that if Petey can keep Matt in check things could go well for FR. PFN hasn't been all that strong as of late and I think that FR can match up pretty well with them. Petey just needs to match his weaker players up with Kerry's strong players and mop up the rest with his stronger players. Petey watch out for Kalpz, Mina, and Jamie if these guys get the edge on FR this match could go quite sour for FR.

PFN as stated above beat FR in their last meeting. I think they have only gotten stronger. There are curtain question marks though. Who is showing for PFN? Will we see the overpowering side of PFN or will we see the deflated one? If Kerry wins her match I think PFN will surely win vs FR. She tends to save herself for last and with that added pressure I am curious to see if she will be able to close it out. I suspect FR picks up this match PFN in heartbreaking game 7 fashion.
Outcome:4-3 FR

-THE BEST FOR LAST-

SS (4-2) vs MC (6-0), Thursday@6pm, Room: All Mixed Up

SS has been solid through this season and are currently holding the #2 seed in the East. Their only losses are to MC and BNR in a match that was much closer than the scores say. Shelle just needs to keep doing what she is doing, I think her patchwork of players will not be enough to beat MC this week but in the next to weeks they shouldn't have trouble dispatching SPS and SP. The only snag on their 2nd place seeding would be to BNR in the final week of the season. IF Shelle can steal this match from MC it would pretty much lock them in for the 2nd seed.

MC has cruised through this season like it was nothing. This is the only inter league they are sitting undefeated in. I think Ben and James want to keep it that way. If MC wins this match they lock in home field and an automatic bid to the Eastern Championship. Ben, James, Zach, Saf, and most importantly Ant will be too much for SS. Their season 2 crown is just going to bog them down in this match. Look to see MC muscle around SS early.
Outcome: 5-1 MC

Monday, February 28, 2011

WK 6; 6 Spots for the Show

After wrapping up week 5 we head into the final stretch of the season. 10 teams are fighting for just 6 spots and the heat is on. The Eastern Division is neck and neck currently while the Western Division is pretty much set unless DS decides to step up. Key matches to watch for this week are MC/BNR and PFN/SPS. The rest of the matches are sure to have some intense games but this week seems to be somewhat dull.

-TOP DOGS BUMP HEADS-

MC (5-0) vs BNR (3-2), Monday@7pm, Room: Rack 'em

Ben and James seem to be doing a great job. Ant of course makes them look like superb captains but even so there is more to MC than just the reigning co-MVP. Zach has come out of no where with an impressive 5-0 record, look to see Ant, Zach, and Conor to over-power a strong BNR team that just hasn't had the best of luck this season.

Dina has taken a lot of heat for last weeks match. She doesn't care how she gets a win as long as it's a win. She supports her teammates wholeheartedly and will do anything to get a win when she feels it is deserved. Players like Joe and Jordy need to be on their A-game this week. I just don't think BNR has a strong enough to to match the stars that MC has.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

-WHA WHA WHAT?-

PDZ (0-5) vs SS (3-2), Tuesday@6pm, Room: Sad

PDZ has pretty much written off this season. They would need to win out to even contemplate making the playoffs. I didn't think they would be in the hunt this season but I did think they would scrounge up at least 1 win. That being said I think everyone knows DJ has underachieved as a captain thus far. DJ, Drew, and the rest of the no-names need to get this ship turned around. It sure wont happen against a strong SS team, don't expect miracles here.

SS is reeling from a tough loss to BNR last week. There was a lot of controversy in their last game and that loss stung quite deep. I think SS licks their wounds here and they come out with a bang! Shelle will put a strong enough team together to prevail here.
Outcome: 5-1 SS

-THE WASH-

SP (0-5) vs FR (3-2), Tuesday@6:30pm, Room: Adv Lng 3

SP is another team like PDZ except losing is becoming the norm for them. SP is on a -15 streak, yes I said it correctly, this is SP's ultimate low. This team shows with a solid crew they just cant string 4 wins together. Old school players like Pete need to step up and carry this team. I doubt it will happen this week though, the losing streak will stay intact week 6.

FR shouldn't have a problem this week vs 1 of the worst teams in the league. FR took on the only undefeated team last week and obviously didn't succeed. Ant just cant be stopped, Petey turns this losing streak around this week and nudges his team in position for a future playoff run.
Outcome: 5-1 FR

-CROSS-CLASH-

PFN (3-2) vs SPS (3-2), Tuesday@7pm, Room: Bad Times

Kerry is doing a well enough job this season. Her team has big names this season but it seems like no one can turn it on at the same time. Trey moved over from MC last week so maybe he can rub some of their good luck off on PFN. EPC > SPS, I think Kerry is aware her team has a easier challenge this week. SPS can be deceiving though, they steal a game or two and this match could go to game 7. Kerry needs Jamie, Mina, and Kalpz to play their best here and the match should end quickly.

Heather has done a great job this season. Her team is in the hunt and could temporarily hold a playoff spot if they win tonight. MC defeated BNR which would give the edge to SPS if they win. The eclipses for SPS need to pull off wins like they did last week. I think SPS can do it if they match up properly, Kerry likes to play her strong early which leaves a huge crack in their armor late in the game.
Outcome: 4-2 PFN

-ARE THEY GAME?-

DS (1-4) vs EPC (4-1), Wednesday@7pm, Room: AFIC

DS won their first game last week which injects some excitement into this crew. They did lose a player last week to a non-report, that might put some pressure on Chele. I think if Chele can bring Ash or Corey to this match it could possibly go to 7 games. I think EPC is a very solid team that has proven they are a threat but their big two rarely show and Chele seems to be having trouble finding someone else on the squad to step up and take control. Is DS up for this match? are they game enough? Home field might help DS here but I don't think they have enough power.

Jack you are cruising to the playoffs at this rate. I don't think you are scared of this match-up at all. Players like Cam, Jester, Uriel, and Jack pose a huge threat to DS. Jack picked up 2 wins against MC in PRO which turned some heads and made me think twice about playing him. If I was DS I would be conceding now, just kidding! EPC needs to keep the pressure on DS and before game 5 is done this match could be over.
Outcome: 5-1 EPC

Wk 5: Halfway Point

What a wild season 3 in WSOP. Who knew MC would be 4-0 at this point in the season? Who thought Jack would field a team every week or how about EPC leading the West? Who suspected PFN would take over for XPL? Who predicted DS would be sitting at the bottom of the Western pack? and who would have thought SPS would be in the hunt at the halfway mark? All these things I surely didn't for-see but this is what makes WSOP great. You never know what's going to happen. Looking at this upcoming week there are quite a few good matches. EPC/PFN should pack quite a punch along with MC/FR. The last great match to watch would be SS/BNR, I am curious which teams win these 3 key matches. I recommend watching these games along with the other matches in week 5.

-WHO WANTS 1ST MORE?-

EPC (3-1) vs PFN (3-1), Monday@6pm, Room: Banditos

Jack has done a great job thus far this season. Key wins against PDZ, DS, and SP could inflate Jacks hopes in this match. I don't think Jack has faced a challenge like PFN yet. If you look back at last week FR was defeated by PFN. FR was the only team to beat Jack so if PFN beat FR, one could only conclude PFN will defeat EPC. Please note, Jack added Uriel after week 1 so that will surely be a factor in the final outcome against PFN. I believe that Uriel and home field is still not enough for Jack to beat Kerry.

PFN (formerly known as XPL) has handled most of their matches this season. PFN has only lost to the defending champs, SS. Kerry has a strong lineup through and through, I think that will be the X-factor. If Kerry losses this match it will put a big dent in her plans to take over the West. She will get a 2nd chance week 9 though which will be a far more interesting match later in the season. The team that wins this match will be sitting atop the Western Division WK 6.
Outcome: 4-2 PFN

-EAST'S BEASTS vs WEST'S BEST-

MC (4-0) vs FR (3-1), Monday@7:30pm, Room: Rack 'em

Ben seems to have taken over in MC solely the last couple weeks. Look to see something along those lines again this week. Ben has done a superb job running this team. Ant and the Nerd have done enough to be our last Season 3 undefeated team. I suspect MC is in for a challenge this week though, FR fell just short against PFN and I think Petey will have something to prove this week. I will have to tip my hat to MC though this week. MC has shown with 5 players have the time this season and still won their matches. That is a scary fact for FR especially if MC can bring a full lineup.

FR has done a great job this season. They are surely going to make the playoffs, yes I am calling it a slam dunk, after pathetic showings from SP and DS this season FR is a favorite here. I think Petey wants more than a playoff spot though. He wants to prove that Freedom is a threat to all the leagues in WSOP. Matt, Petey, Adam, and Travis are all superb players that will give MC a run for their money. I believe Dan will be the X-factor here though, he is 2-0 so far this season and Petey will need to lean on him early to get a key advantage. Maybe James, Trey, or Ben fail an early run and Dan mops up again like week 4. I wouldn't put it past FR to pull out a win here I just cant help but side with the 4-0 team.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

-BATTLE OF THE LOSERS-

DS (0-4) vs SP (0-4), Tuesday@6pm, Room: A Face In the Crowd

This match isn't relevant on any playoff implications but it will be intriguing to see which loser will get their first win this season in WSOP. DS has under performed all season partially because Corey hasn't been able to make very many matches as well as Ashton. These guys have some good players but they are not regularly in the lineup and that could cost them here. Chele just because you guys made it to finals last season I am giving you the nod, or could it be because SP is -14?

-14 you say? That is correct, SP is on a wicked down turn since joining WSOP last season. They badly need this victory and they deserve it, they just wont be getting it. I love how resilient SP is, they show with a full team every week they just aren't good enough to pickup 4 wins. 4 wins are clearly a lot harder than they look. Bev should look at MC's strategy and duplicate it, if only there were more Ants in this world.
Outcome: 4-2 DS

-EASTERN SHAKEDOWN-

SS (3-1) vs BNR (2-2), Wednesday@6pm, Room: All Mixed Up

Shelle has done a great job this season. The only defeat SS has suffered was against MC. I think SS takes the edge here. Jon, Nahn, Mike, and Nish all need big games here. I think SS has the potential to win but if you look at their list of players they have been spreading the games around to everyone. Jon has yet to pickup a win but the potential is always there. You have to respect SS, they are the defending champs. Home field could be enough to sway this in SS' favor.

Dina on the other hand has had a rocky season. Losing games to EPC and MC (both currently at the top of their respective divisions after WK 5 matches) could have put a dent in BNR's self esteem. Losing those same games just MIGHT have lit a fire under Dina's team. I think if her big boys play lights out Dina could win this match. Jim, Jordy, and Joe need to show here. This match is hard to gauge without knowing exactly who is going to show up. Like I have said previously I am giving the nod to the defending champs here but I wouldn't be surprised if BNR pulled this out and put the East in a possible 3-way tie for 2nd place.
Outcome: 4-3 SS

Wk 4: Time to Make a Move

I am very excited about this upcoming week. I suspect you have seen, but, if you haven't PFN is back in WSOP. PFN took XPL's spot after XPL died. Has that really changed the field? Not one bit, in inter leagues XPL has pretty much all the players PFN uses so I suspect Kerry will field the exact same team she ran with XPL. I just don't understand why she went to XPL in the first place all the players spent the time and energy to get eligible only to hop back to PFN, will that cause some tension in their ranks? We will find out this week. There are some interesting divisional matches Wk 4, PFN vs FR and SPS vs SS stand out the most to me. These teams are holding playoff spots 1/3rd of the way through the season and these outcomes could be crucial for the bottom dwellers.

-ONE SIDED-

MC (3-0) vs PDZ (0-3), Monday@7pm, Room: Rack'em

MC has been amazing so far this season. Ben and James have done a swell job captaining so far this season. The players they have just keep winning. I don't envy PDZ, this week they have big shoes to fill. This match will be fairly simple, MC starts off with a early lead and they win the match early. I just don't think PDZ has the firepower here. This is like the USA vs Jamaica, a bunch of stoners that will be punked around the whole match.

PDZ has put up a fight all season I will give them that much. they just haven't had things go their way yet. Could they win this week against MC? Yes, sure anyone can get lucky but will it happen? No, lets be practical here this is a 0-3 team going against an undefeated team with arguably one of the most clutch players in ypool currently. I would put my money on MC all night long.
Outcome: 5-1 MC

-CRUNCH TIME-

BNR (1-2) vs DS (0-3), Mon@7pm, Room: Welcome to the Jungle

BNR finally picked up a win last week. They are back on their horses running off to another playoff appearance, or are they? it's really to soon to tell where BNR will end up. I think if Dina can win this week she has a good shot at retaking a top 3 spot. I suspect a reshuffling after this week in the East. This cross-divisional clash has a lot of implications BNR needs Joe, Croz, and Jordy to play lights out.

DS has just been digging a deeper grave each week. They lost some key players last season and are feeling it now. IF DS cant get Corey involved more they likely will be having a lame duck season 3. Not one player on DS' lineup has a winning record besides Ash who hasn't been seen since week 1. DS needs someone to step-up, take control, and carry this team. This is crunch time, can you turn this season around?
Outcome: 4-2 BNR

-Under Achievers vs Over Achievers-

SP (0-3) vs EPC (2-1), Tuesday@6pm, Room: Adv Lounge 3

SP has been far from amazing and are currently on a -13 streak if you add up last season and this. Any sane man would not predict them to win this match. They haven't been horrible this season they just cant get a W. This isn't a surprise though because as stated before they seem to be really good at losing here in WSOP and not much else.

EPC shouldn't have a problem tonight. Jack should rock SP's socks off here. Cam, Uriel and company will handle SP. The only thing EPC needs to worry about is if they can or cant bring a full team. Jack will show with enough to handle SP. Lay the hammer down Jack, prove that your team is worth consideration in the playoffs.
Outcome: 4-2 EPC

-Eastern Showdown-

SPS (2-1) vs SS (2-1), Tuesday@7pm, Room: Sweet Jane

SPS ran by Heather has been superb all of this season. I think this clash will be close and there will be plenty of tension between the teams. Heather wants this game and I think she will have her team playing very carefully. This match will run down to the wire, I just don't know if SPS can hold up against SS' strength.

Shelle has Jon and company. This team is solid the only hiccup was against MC who turns out to be the same to SPS hiccuped against. This match will be an interesting indicator as to who is surely going to make the playoffs and who still might or might not miss out. SS has the upper hand at the moment. The records show a tie between these teams but I just think that the edge goes to SS.
Outcome: 4-2 SS

-Western Showdown-

PFN (2-1) vs FR (3-0), Wednesday@6pm, Room: Bad Times

Kerry might have been XPL at one point but she has always been PFN through and through. This team is scary, I wouldn't expect anything less than greatness when associating any team with PFN. They have made the playoffs every season since WSOP was established. I suspect she will have her normal XPL crew plus Brent possibly more. I am curious to see who Kerry decides to play against their Western Division foe. This will be 2 tough matches in a row for PFN. Could the loss to SS effect Kerry's strategies here? There are so many questions and not enough time for answers. Let's see how this match pans out I suspect it could go either way.

Petey took control of FR solely this season and look at the start he has. FR is sitting at the top looking down with a undefeated 3-0 record. The players Petey can call are limited but most are very good. Travis is a very solid shooter, Matt is good as well (it would be nice to see some kind of humbleness out of Matt), and you cant forget about Petey the captain who will not want to lose to PFN. There is a lot of history between these two teams and I am intrigued to see how Petey calls his players. I think home field for PFN will be the X-factor.
Outcome:4-3 XPL errr PFN

Wk 3: A cut above the rest...

I want to first off reflect on another great week in WSOP. There were some key matches I predicted wrong that have shaken things up a bit. The two matches in particular were EPC's thumping of PDZ and SPS' game 7 victory over BNR. I didn't think either of these teams had it in them but Jack and Heather proved me wrong. After week 2 we have separated 4 big dogs from the rest. The 4 I am speaking of are MC, SPS, FR, and XPL. XPL has looked very strong thus far and I suspect it to continue. FR has also been playing pretty well, they had a rough time showing week 1 but I think if we give Petey enough time he will prove it was a fluke. MC is another solid team that most likely will take the East this season if they keep doing what they are doing. The final team in the top 4 is SPS, Heather has put together a team that somehow some way pulls off wins. They don't have any big names but SPS has proven through 2 games they don't need big names. Looking ahead to week 3 there are some key matches one of which being SPS vs MC. Look out for a good clash between SS and XPL as well, followed up by an interesting match between SP and FR. There are some more matches obviously, those listed above are ones I feel to be the best match ups in week 3.

-EASTERN BUMS-

PDZ (0-2) vs BNR (0-2), Monday@7pm, Room: And Far Away

Both of these teams have yet to meet their expectations this season. I say this because neither have picked up a win. PDZ has had two rough weeks in a row. DJ just doesn't have a team strong enough to contend with the competition in WSOP. His team looked good until the 3rd game of week 1, that's when they jumped on the losing wagon. I hope PDZ turns this around and fast. DJ crack the whip brother, get your players on form. BNR is packed with weapons so come up with a game plan here don't poke and hope.

BNR is a complete and utter disappointment thus far this season. They could have won week 2. One could even say they should have won but played below their normal level. SPS does have a solid team, don't get me wrong but with the names BNR brings to the table they should not have lost. Joe needs to win those tiebreakers, look to see him rebound strong this week. I suspect all of BNR will rebound here. I am going to give the nod to BNR another week in a row, don't do me wrong.
Outcome: 4-2 BNR

-CROSS-CLASH-

SS (1-1) vs XPL (2-0), Tuesday@7pm, Room: All Mixed Up

Shelle was put in her place last week against MC but will it happen again this week? SS needs great games from Dave, Jon, and Jason. Dave has played solid so far this season and will surely need to continue that this week against XPL. SS has an above-average team that will hold their own with any league. Shelle proved last week that SS wont go down without a fight. SS was in their MC match til the game 6 loss. The key here is how well SS does early. XPL starts out strong and finishes weak so IF Shelle can get some early wins it might be enough to carry her through this week.

Kerry you seem to bring winners to the table every season. How do you get them to flock to you? I suppose we will never know that answer. I wish I knew her tricks, I have always wanted to be a winner :). Note that even though Shelle has home field I am still favoring XPL here. XPL has one more victory this season and they also have players like Jamie, Brian, Mina, and Jeremy. IF I was SS I would throw in the towel now, save the humiliation for someone else... jk. This will be the match of the week solely on the quality of players both teams bring to this match up.
Outcome: 4-3 XPL

-FORMIDABLE FOES VS
LAST SEASONS CINDERELLAS-

EPC (1-1) vs DS (0-2), Wed@6:30pm, Room: Banditos

EPC is right on track after a XPL loss this week. IF they can pickup a win here they will take the early season edge on XPL. Looking back on EPC's schedule you can see they haven't had to play much competition but this week will be a change. DS hasn't put up a W but Chele and Chuck surely have to turn things around at some point. Jack needs to take the early lead and with players like Cam and Uriel to close Jack's EPC team is a formidable foe.

Chele your team needs to get their ducks in a row. After 2 very tough defeats DS is sitting in the gutter with no where to turn. Last season was a Cinderella story but this season has started off quite differently. I am very curious to see who plays. Corey needs to be here if they want to have a shot. DS needs amazing games from James, Chuck, and Roy. Those 3 guys have underperformed right out of the gates and if they don't start picking up wins this team is going to have their worst record to date in WSOP.
Outcome: 4-2 EPC

-UNDEFEATED-

SPS (2-0) vs MC (2-0), Thursday@7pm, Room: Sweet Jane

This is hands down the match of the week. I know I will speak for everyone when I say that no one would have expected SPS to start season 2 off with two solid wins. They haven't played the teams MC has but you cant count SPS out after two solid victories. I suspect this match to go to game 6 before we know the victor. Heather needs to keep up her great captaining, she has called her players at just the right moments and they haven't let her down. IF Heather wants to win this match she needs b.soccer to keep up his MVP tear.

I knew that no one expected SPS to be sharing the top spot after week 2 but everyone should have expected MC to be. They won against BNR (the same team SPS beat in a extra game) and SS who are the defending champs. That being said I think that MC has the advantage here. Ant and Saf will be the X-factors here. They are both on fire in WSOP and if they keep up t heir winning ways MC could be the defending champs next season, lets hope I jinxed them lol.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

One Week Down, Nine to Go

The first week of WSOP was full of twists and turns. EPC pushed their match to game 7 when FR could only scrounge up 4 players. I hope FR gets their act together because any other team would have smashed them. I would also like to note, Jack showed with 5 players. He might be acquiring Bren and that could be enough to actually win some matches this season. I expect Jack to compete in this inter league as long as he doesn't give up. MC thumped BNR, SPS shocked SP, SS cruised over PDZ, and XPL's stomped DS. The recap of every game can be found on BGUS' blog. A quick glance at the week ahead insures us at least one game will be good. MC vs SS is going to be a epic clash between two teams that are hungry for success. Other note worthy games to watch out for are DS vs FR and PDZ vs EPC. Who knows if EPC or FR will field a team week 2 and whether or not DS and PDZ can get out of their early season funks.

-BEASTIES CLASH-

MC (1-0) vs SS (1-0), Monday@7pm, Room: Rack em

MC came off a huge win week one. Right out of the gates MC has the two toughest divisional games of the season. They beat BNR last week in a huge 4-2 victory. James, Trey, Ben, Ant, Safdar, and nerd.herd all put up great games against BNR and I suspect a similar outing this week against SS. As long as Ben and James' players can get 2 wins Ant can win it for them. He is just that good and I would not want to sit in SS' shoes this week.

SS came off a solid victory week one. They handled PDZ, though it was expected, they still followed through and succeeded. This week will be polar opposites to week 1 though. MC has far more guns to worry about than PDZ had. SS needs to play inside of their element. Without home field MC will have the slight advantage. This game could be really close or a complete blowout. IF SS expects to win this they need great outings from Nahn, Jon, and David. Look to see the winner of this match hold onto the top spot in the East for some time.
Outcome: 4-2 MC

-THE SHOCKERS-

BNR (0-1) vs SPS (1-0), Monday@7pm, Room: Welcome to the Jungle

What on Earth happened week 1 BNR? Things just didn't end up going their way I am shocked the didn't at least push MC to game 7. This team is bound to rebound this week though. Dina will turn this around with players like Jordy, Adept, and Chris. This team has way to much skill to lose this week. Dina has a fire burning in her after losing to MC and I wouldn't want to be Heather this week. BNR will be at .500 following this week.

Heather you did a great job last week. We all predicted your team to fail but in reality you prevailed. I hope continued success to your team but this week will be much harder than the scrubs SP sent your way. Oh, and I am sure that Dina will have all 6 players with the 5 game eligibility requirement. I am not saying you cant win this week, I am just saying I don't think things will fall into your lap. Heather your team will need to play very good to succeed against this challenging foe.
Outcome: 4-2 BNR

-THE TRAIN IS COMING-

SP (0-1) vs XPL (1-0), Tuesday@6pm, Room: Advanced Lg 3

After A devastating defeat by SPS it's hard to gauge where SP will end up this season. I can easily say I am swaying towards last seasons poor outcome. SP needs to first make sure they have their players eligible and they need to bring 6 to even think about winning this match. I am already going to right them off only because they can not even compare to the potent lineup XPL can deliver. This match will be a gimme game for XPL unless Bev has something up her sleeves.

XPL delivered a crushing blow to DS week 1 which puts their crew among the best. Jamie, Brian, Kalpz, and Jeremy all have such great all around skills its like a freight train heading right for you I would not want to be near that. I see great things in store for this team. SP didn't have what it takes against SPS what will change here? This match is going to have a fairly simple outcome. Kerry get out your scrubs. Home field will not help SP.
Outcome:5-1 XPL

-BATTLE OF THE BOTTOM DWELLERS-

PDZ (0-1) vs EPC (0-1), Wednesday@7pm, Room: And Far Away

DJ didn't give up without a fight week one. he showed with a crew that got some wins. I think he has an even better shot this week. DJ the x-factor in this match is if you can bring a full team. Lord knows Jack wont so if you can you will probably prevail. DJ needs to play well along with Drew and company if they want to make a decent season out of this.

EPC did wonders pushing FR to game 7 but think about it, FR had 4 players. That should have been a victory for EPC not a defeat. Petey handled EPC which is the reason why EPC is sitting near the bottom. I think Jack has enough determination to field a team but if its not a full team he will not have a shot here.
Outcome: 4-3 PDZ

-RIVALS BUTT HEADS-

DS
(0-1) vs FR (1-0), Wednesday@6pm, Room: A Face in the Crowd

This will be a great match if FR can bring a full team. DS is weaker than they were last season and that was proven when they were dismantled by XPL week 1. Their team just doesn't have the firepower it did last season and that will hurt them here. I think if they show with 6 and play very carefully they could beat out FR. Roy, Chuck, and Corey need to have big games if they hope to put up a fighting chance here.

Petey carried his team week one with only 4 players. He can not do that all season and definitely not against a team that can bring a full squad. Petey needs his players to show for him if he expects to put up a fighting chance. Now, I honestly think week one was a fluke for Petey and his FR squad. Look to see him show with at least 5 and prevail this week in a somewhat close match.
Outcome: 4-2 FR

WSOP News-

Look to see the voting for team placement end any day now and the Week 1 Poll up. Please keep an eye out, money could be on the line people. Lets make this even more intriguing, AP is out EPC is in. Yes, I just said EPC is in WSOP. Do not adjust your monitor settings, this is real. Ok, maybe that was a lil' dickish. Jack, you have had a very gray history in inters. EPC hasn't tended to do well and it has always led to a drop of some sorts. A drop from the league, a drop from the playoffs, a drop of players, etc. I just hope that things change for you Jack. I have heard rumblings that you have players that enjoy playing for you. Lets hope EPC does well, WSOP would love to have the increased competition.

-East Powerhouse vs New Kid on the Block-

BNR (0-0) vs MC (0-0), Monday@7pm, Room: WTTJ

Season 3 starts with a bang here ladies and gents. Look to see BNR come out guns blazing. They have a very solid team that has exceeded expectations every regular season. They seem to burn out in the Eastern Championship but you can almost expect them to get at least that far. Track records cant be ignored. The People think BNR will top MC this season and they very well could but you can never underestimate Ant. He is someone any team could rally around so tread lightly BNR. Players like Chip, Croz, and Jordy need to pick up where they left off last season. The X-factor for BNR this season will be how well Ross plays in the early matches. He had a lot of tough losses last season so if he can turn things around BNR just might trump MC.

MC is ran by James who has been jumping around teams as of late. It looks like he has finally found a home here in MC. He brought Ben in as well to co-op the captain roll. Ant, Ben, James and Trey look to see that quad-fecta, haha, to just be enough to push BNR into a loss here. What a way to start a new league with their first win, right? I think if anyone can pull off this upset it would be them. The question is, can James and Ben get all their players eligible in time for this match. Monday is right around the corner people.
Outcome: 4-3 MC, shocking upset! Ant carries game 7...

-Battle of the Who's?-

SPS (0-0) vs SP (0-0), Tuesday@6:30pm, Room: Sweet Jane

Both of these teams are coming off poor seasons. SPS might have been a degree better than SP but nothing you can really toot your horn about. Heather is taking over now that Jason left to SS. Heather needs to get her recruiting on if she expects to compete in this tough inter. I hope the best for both these teams. This match is a tone setter for SPS, will Heather walk away with the W?

SP this is your chance to put last season behind you. Bev will rejuvenate this club. Bev also has Pete as her co-captain, if Pete can get Ketan and the crew back on form this team could be a formidable foe. I think Bev will field a decent lineup that will play in some close games against SPS and at the end of the day slip away with the victory here.
Outcome:4-2 SP

-Champs vs Chumps-

SS (0-0) vs PDZ (0-0), Tuesday@7pm, Room: All Mixed Up

The title might be a little harsh but gauging by the votes on the PPL's Poll most of you agree this is going to be a one sided match. SS won WSOP last season and that is only going to bring more depth and credibility to their program. This league just seems to plug along through any adversity. All that said, Shelle will show just what it takes to be the Champs in WSOP. Best of luck PDZ your going to need all you can get.

PDZ isn't dead in the water this season, don't get me wrong. This is a 10 week season, they just don't have a shot in hell of winning this particular match. That is why they are Chumps here. DJ will not have a problem keeping this team in close games though. He did well enough last season for BP before their collapse. I suspect DJ picks of the sole win for PDZ while SS picks up the rest.
Outcome:5-1 SS

-Free-For-All-

FR (0-0) vs EPC (0-0), Wednesday@7pm, Room: Beetle Spot

This match is going to get ugly, mostly because any match involving Jack will be ugly. Petey took over control of his WSOP team after a disappointing finish in season 2. Look for him to start this new season with a BANG. Petey will throw the kitchen sink at Jack, he better be prepared because word around the PPL's Poll is that this is going to be a brutal match for EPC.

Jack, you have a ton of enthusiasm but how long will it last? Anyone want to bet? I got my money on a week 3 withdrawal from WSOP. IF you get passed that you're A'O.K. in my book. This is a team sport, you have to bring a full team if you expect to win this match or any match in WSOP. Jack, you're playing with the big boys now I hope you're ready to rumble.
Outcome: 4-2 FR

-TOP DOGS-

XPL (0-0) vs DS (0-0), Thursday@6:30pm, Room: Sad

This match is going to be the most interesting match of the week. Kerry and Chele both made the playoffs last season. These captains know their lineup better than anyone. Look to see Kerry start off strong. She will call Brian, Jeremy, and Jamie early to try to push DS into a hole. I suspect this match to be very tough. XPL is pretty much PFN so expect great things from this team. I do want to note, if you guys fail here it could bust this division wide open.

DS was put in the underdog role last season and they showed just how great they were making it to the finals. With players like Cam, Trey, and who knows who else going off in different directions DS just might not have enough here. I am hoping they step-up and achieve the same finish as last season. Do I expect it to happen? No, I think the skill player shortage will cost DS at least 2 to 3 wins this season. This match is one of those, when you put DS against the big names Kerry has they just don't match up. I have to give the nod to Kerry here but it wouldn't be a shocker to see DS prevail.
Outcome:4-2 XPL

Pre-Season Predictions

Tips-

I am very curious which teams change their orders around before this season is through. This business is a crap-shoot and who better than Mr. Know It All to give you all the low-down. Before I go any further, please post your pre-season poll predictions. I want to remind people that IF you don't vote you're not heard!

I believe you will notice one difference between my predictions and Boy Genius' predictions. I did my predictions based on divisional finish, one team might finish with a better record than a team in another division but still fail to make the playoffs. It isn't relevant where you finish in the top 10 if you still aren't making the playoffs. So for obvious reasons I have left out the 1 through 10 placement.

WSOP Pre-Season Predictions-
key-
Teams in GREEN and ORANGE are locks for the playoffs.
Teams in RED are predicted out of the playoffs.

East
-

SS-1st (8-2)
They cant be considered an underdog after such a dominating WSOP Championship. I also suspect players have gotten a rejuvenation of life back into their program. SS has played lights out especially in the back stretch. I think they continue this once Cam and a few others come back into the fold. SS has a lot of solid players that don't take chances. SS will be a scary threat this season. I do not envy any of the teams listed below this one.

MC-2nd (7-3)
This team should be able to handle themselves. Word has it they have Ant, James, and Ben. Those three players alone have impressive inter-league resumes. I wouldn't want to face these guys anytime. The only thing that worries me is will they fill the roster. New leagues have trouble with the steep 40 game eligibility requirement in WSOP. I could see this team flourishing in WSOP if they can show with a study 5. I don't expect anything less than that from a team ran by James or Ben.

BNR-3rd (6-4)
Chip has done a great job with BNR. They acquired players at just the right time in WSOP to achieve an automatic bid to the Eastern Championship. I expect BNR to keep their lineup over the break and succeed yet again in the East. The only thing that worries me is how well they will match up with SS and MC. I don't expect the rest of the teams to present much of a challenge. SPS or PDZ have a outside shot at sneaking into this spot but it would require a complete fail by BNR.
---------------------

PDZ-4th (4-6)
What a time for PDZ to enter WSOP. I haven't gone over their lineup in detail but I am worried that PDZ just doesn't have enough in their tank to compete in such a challenging atmosphere. The pressure inter-leagues put on a team are considerable. If i gauge this team by their captains last performance this could be a very accurate prediction. BP had a very rough go mid-season due to unforeseen conflicts I hope no issues arise here in PDZ. DJ will field an above-average team but wont pack enough power to see week 11.

SPS-5 (3-7)
Heather I think you might be a wee bit over your head here. The players you did have Jason seemed to scare off leaving a bare-bones team. I suspect you will field a team but I don't expect much from you guys this season. I do wish you the best here maybe SPS will get back to the form exhibited when they first joined WSOP. Do I honestly see that happening? No.

West-

XPL-1st (8-2)
PFN whoa'? That's all I am hearing. This should be a solid team if it's ran by Kerry. I wouldn't expect anything less. She will have a lot of her crew here and they run tourneys often. They will not have problems showing. Jeremy, Jamie, Kerry, and I am sure there is more. XPL will be another XP which is still circling us back to PFN. The resume this team has is outstanding. I would have to tip my hat to them at this point.

FR-2nd (6-4)
Petey didn't like how FR finished last season. I think I stand for most of WSOP when I say that Petey, Ben, and Travis could take them places. I cant fathom what went wrong but the failure falls on FR as a group. They had the potential last season and I think the sting they received will push Petey to great heights. Look to see FR break the tie over DS to steal 2nd in the division. I also want to point out Petey will have a challenge ahead of him this season. He lost a great player in Ben, I am curious who he has to fill the void?

DS-3rd (6-4)

Wow... Chele your team ended the season 2nd best in the league. I think that swell of energy will carry you through this season. This team is in transition. They are losing Cam and Trey possibly more. I don't know who all is leaving DS but it surely puts them in a rebuilding season. Sure, you are rebuilding but in a division that sports two previous playoff short comers and a newly acquired team that has yet to show they can field players gives DS the benefit of the doubt.
---
SP-4th (5-5)
Last season was far from beautiful for SP. They fought through every week but could not put up a W. Just by looking at last season I can predict a drastic improvement. They might put up a fight and could possibly top DS but I just don't think Beverly can pull it off. SP could surprise some teams. There are a couple leagues that have depth issues and this one could fall under that list. I do not expect anything less than 5 I just don't think the quality is there. This league is so tough, someone needs to put some life into this club. Could Bev be the one to do that?

AP-5th (0-10)
Thomas what on Earth is this? Can you field a team bud? This could either get really ugly or just end somewhat ugly. I cant see much more than ugly when I think of AP. Thomas will bring 3 players every week. This could be the Thomas of old or he could possibly be the Thomas that could! I think he can, I think he can, I think he canT! Mhm, you heard it here. I don't see this project succeeding. Lets all be practical here.

Season 3 on its WaY, YaY!!!

WSOP Kicking Off Jan. 24th-

Updates:

Well after another very successful season WSOP is rolling out Season 3. I would also like to welcome a recently acquired peer. Let us all give a round of applause to Boy Genius. We recently conversed and a challenge was purposed from BGus. BGus wants to throw 20 US bones on who is the better predictor, I agreed. The pressure is on, there is also another factor... We both will be giving 10 USD to a pot if the PPL's Poll trumps both of us. I recommend everyone vote weekly, if the PPL's Poll wins WSOP will be holding a Tourney of Champions. The winner of said tourney will walk away with 15 USD along with the runner-up winning 5 USD. So, may the best predictor prevail.

predictor scoring:1 pt for correct team, 1 pt for correct score (PPL's Poll is based on most popular vote, see PPL's Poll Page for details)

This competition should bring about some buzz. I hope everyone has fun with this because I sure am going to. I would also like to point out some new teams visiting WSOP. Let's all welcome with open arms MisCues, Pool Dragonz, Addicted Pool, and Xtreme Pool Legendz. We cant forget the vets to WSOP; Break n Run, DeadS

trokes, Freedom, Simply Pool Souls, Sexy Poolerz, and the defending Champions Straightshots. I hope we all have a great season 3, I want to remind everyone to try and be extra courtesy to one another. Lets start 2011 off with some friendly competition and great sportsmanship!

WSOP Pre-Season Shakedown-

I suspect this will be a crap shoot. WSOP has so many new teams that could present quite a challenge for a new predictor like BGus. I wouldn't put it past him to flourish in this harsh environment but don't underestimate my knowledge and wisdom. I suppose i shouldn't Toot my own horn but who has been running this show thus far? mwah? me, myself, and I. OK, I am done may the slugfest begin.
